Ford Motor Company has helped the community of Detroit by donating a transit van to the Salvation Army. By donation this transit van, it can help with disaster relief victims in the surrounding areas. Along with the donation in Detroit, there will also be another transit van donated in Kansas City.
When it is fully stocked, the transit van can help up to 250 disaster victims and emergency personnel. The van is equipped with a microwave, oven with burners, refrigerator, coffee maker and hot water heater. The van is set up to have a window out front to serve the food easily.
The Salvation Army volunteers provide food, shelter, clothing, beverages to disaster victims or those in need. These volunteers also assist with police, firefighters and other first responders. With the help of this van, these volunteers are able to go out and help so many people in need.
